We are The Barton Boys Heating & Air Conditioning
After 3 years in the military I took an HVAC course in Indiana. I began work there for 2 years before moving to Montana in 1977 (yes, I’m old) and worked as an installer there until 1980 when I moved to Chelan, WA. There I became a Jack of All Trades: doing install, service, and was the only 24hr on-call technician. I moved to Spokane in 1990 and began working for Gary Barton at Barton’s Heating and AC until he retired in 2002. Shortly after I began The Barton Boys with a partner, and became the sole owner a few years later.
Robb came to the Barton Boys after 20 years in hearth industry. Starting in 1992 he worked his way from an installer to sales estimator and eventually into management roles. Robb has factory certifications from numerous fireplace manufacturers and serves as the resident expert for us on all matters “fireplace”. This is Robb’s second stint with Barton’s having worked here from 1997-2001 and currently since 2012. Aside from industry training, Robb also has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from EWU.
Robb’s role as General Manager encompasses all facets of the business including advertising, budgeting, purchasing and also assists Heather with Human Resources and OSHA tasks. Along with his duties as GM he is also the Installation Department Manager handling all of the scheduling and oversight of our 6 install crews. Whether he’s a great leader or just a master delegator is up for debate, but one thing is true: Robb is passionate about making The Barton Boys bigger, better, and your first choice in heating and cooling in Spokane.
Office Manager and Bookkeeper
Heather has been with The Barton Boys for 14 years and runs the office with a gentle and calm demeanor. She oversees not only all of our accounting and benefits, she also works with Robb on our Human Resources policies, and our Labor & Industries and OSHA compliance. Heather is QuickBooks certified, organized, and one of the reasons The Barton Boys have maintained a high level of efficiency in our office and accounting since taking over the bookkeeping duties.
Ed was born at an early age, in a small log cabin which he built himself. He grew up fishing, hunting, and racing motorcycles.
Seriously…Ed graduated from Fresno Technical College in 1980 and began his career in HVAC. In 1984 Ed joined the U.S. Army and moved his small family to Fort Polk, LA. There he took care of the HVAC for the Headquarters Company of the 5th Infantry Division. In 1992 he moved home to Montana and opened his own heating and cooling shop which won Bryant’s “Medal of Excellence-Gold Award” in 1995.
After the sale of his business in the late 1990’s Ed moved to North Idaho and went to work doing Commercial Plan and Spec for the regional Carrier/Bryant distributor until we lured him away with the promise of fame and fortune to be our new Service Manager in 2010. He is also the company 06A Electrical Administrator, along with the following certifications:
And manufacturer certifications from: Bryant, Carrier, Manitowoc, Mitsubishi and York
Ryan just joined us in 2016 and has taken over the dispatch duties for our service department and various other administrative roles. She will be helping implement some new service programs and will be the person sending you that friendly reminder when it’s time to have your heating or cooling system serviced. Ryan has been a great addition to the staff and already made a big impact in our service department. When you call The Barton Boys, Ryan is that friendly voice you hear on the other end – call her today!
Scott has been with The Barton Boys and its predecessor Barton’s Heating for over 20 years! He began his career as a helper and easily moved into a lead install role almost immediately. He has worked in literally hundreds of homes and businesses throughout Spokane and North Idaho over that span. If you have a custom home with a challenging heating system, Scott is the ONLY one you want running your job! His years of installation experience, training, and leadership makes Scott one of the most valuable pieces of our company. He is N.A.T.E.
